What Makes Walden Living Different?
At Walden, we get to know you and your needs. Since the beginning we have believed in making individual plans for each resident because we know that no two recovery journeys are the same.
Our Mission Statement
Each day we strive to create a safe environment for people living with mental illness to find encouragement and support in their day to day life. We want each resident to develop the confidence in the skills for them to live independently while maintaining their recovery.
Meet Our Team
Kristy Furlong
Program DIRECTOR
Kristy has been a coach at Walden since 2016. Prior to working here, she was a therapist at a mental health hospital but felt a pull to do something out of the box, something that allowed for more flexibility for clients. Walden Living was the perfect match, giving Kristy the space to guide clients with more specific coaching. Kristy firmly believes in meeting each individual where they are mentally, emotionally and physically at that moment. She strives to create an environment that encourages empathy, challenge, and self-discovery. Kristy has a passion for the arts, music, nature, and animals. In her spare time, she volunteers on her local fire department and works with her horses and miniature donkeys, training them to be effective helpers in the community.
Beth Berchiatti
LIFE Coach
After a career of working in schools assisting kids with special needs, Beth decided it was time for a change. She sought a position where she could give back by sharing the life lessons she has learned. When coaching, Beth gets to know each individual and helps them learn skills that will best fit their needs when they go home. Outside of work, Beth enjoys camping, hiking, doing crafts, and visiting her daughter and grandkids in Arizona.
Tessie
support canine
Tessie has been at Walden since she was five weeks old. She spends her nights at Kristy’s farm but loves to spend her days bringing joy to everyone at Walden. As a registered emotional support animal, Tessie brings residents exposure to life with canine support and love. Tessie is currently in training for her Canine Good Citizen certificate in order to be a registered service animal. Tessie is a big part of creating all of the smiles that we see around here.
